Kraken Bond AeroSeal Gasket Foam (SF 404) is a high-performance, one-component polyurethane gun foam made for non-structural air sealing between drywall and framing. Its dense yet flexible foam creates a long-lasting airtight seal while allowing for normal building movement. Used as part of a complete air-sealing system, it helps improve energy efficiency and adds extra thermal and sound insulation benefits in residential and light-frame construction. Low expansion helps prevent drywall bowing or distortion.

Features & Benefits

  • Creates a continuous airtight seal behind drywall
  • High elasticity and flexibility to accommodate normal building movement
  • Recovers after minor compression caused by building movement
  • Low-expansion formula helps prevent drywall bowing or distortion; no shrinkage
  • Helps support improved blower door test performance when used as part of an air-sealing system
  • Supplemental thermal and sound insulation benefits
  • Strong adhesion to solid, clean, dry building surfaces
  • Easy gun application with controlled bead placement
  • Quick setup: tack-free in about 7 minutes, fully cured in 24 hours
  • Large 14 oz (396 g) can with 18-month shelf life

Application Areas

  • Sealing top and bottom plates
  • Sealing between drywall and wood or metal studs
  • Air sealing at wall-to-floor and wall-to-ceiling connections
  • Supplemental thermal and sound insulation in residential and light-frame construction

How to Use

  • Surface Prep: Surfaces must be solid, clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, rust, and other contaminants. When the temperature is above 32°F (0°C), lightly mist the surface with water.
  • Can Prep: If the can is too cold or too hot, bring it to room temperature by placing it in warm or cool water, or leave it indoors for at least 24 hours. Recommended can temperature is 68°F (20°C). Shake the can thoroughly before use.
  • Application: Wear protective gloves. Attach the nozzle to the applicator gun, screw the can onto the gun, and hold the can upside down with the valve pointing down. For vertical gaps, start at the bottom and work upward; do not fill the entire gap at once, as the foam will expand. Lightly misting the surface and foam can improve adhesion and speed up curing.
  • Finishing: After the foam is fully cured, protect it from UV exposure with plaster, paint, or another suitable coating. For best results, use the entire can without stopping for more than 5 minutes, as foam may cure inside the applicator.
  • Cleanup: Clean uncured foam with Kraken Bond Foam Cleaner. Cured foam can only be removed mechanically.
  • Important: This product is not a drywall adhesive and does not replace mechanical fasteners. Drywall must be fastened to structural framing according to applicable building codes. Not for load-bearing or structural bonding. Not recommended for polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), silicone, PTFE, or oily/contaminated surfaces.
  • Safety: Contains isocyanates. Use only in a well-ventilated area, wear protective gloves, and avoid breathing vapors. Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames. Do not puncture or burn the can, even after use. Keep out of reach of children.
