Key Features & Benefits

Kraken Bond ThermaFoam Wide Spray Foam Insulation (FS 113) is an all-purpose, one-component closed cell foam sealant engineered to fill, insulate, and seal wide gaps, cavities, and joints for both indoor and outdoor applications. Its wide spray pattern delivers broad, even coverage in fewer passes, reaching the attics, crawl spaces, California corners, and hard-to-access seams other foams miss. Once cured, it forms a dense, continuous insulation layer that improves thermal performance, cuts air leakage, and adds moisture resistance. Whether you're a DIY homeowner, a renovation contractor, or a construction professional, one 16 oz can delivers professional-quality insulation and sealing performance without special tools or contractor assistance.

Performance Highlights

  • Class-A Fire Rated (ASTM E84) Tested to FSI ≤ 15 and SDI ≤ 40 for top-tier flame-spread and smoke performance.
  • High R-Value Insulation – Delivers R-5.66 per inch thickness for superior thermal performance.
  • Wide Spray Coverage – Covers more area with fewer passes for faster, seamless application.
  • Smart Nozzle Control – Reaches deep cavities and hard-to-access gaps with precision.
  • Air & Moisture Barrier – Creates a durable airtight seal to reduce drafts and moisture infiltration.
  • Strong AdhesionBonds to most common building materials: wood, concrete, masonry, metal, and drywall.
  • Energy Saving Performance – Helps lower heating and cooling costs by minimizing air leakage.
  • Yields up to 10 board feet at 1 inch from each 16 oz can.

Key Benefits

  • Wide spray pattern for fast, even, single-can coverage
  • High thermal insulation performance (R-5.66 per inch) to lower heating and cooling costs
  • Creates a seamless insulation layer that reduces air leaks and thermal bridging
  • Expands to fill irregular gaps, deep voids, and hard-to-reach cavities
  • Paintable once cured, and easy to cut, trim, and shape
  • No additional mechanical fasteners required
  • Helps reduce condensation and moisture-related issues
  • Professional-quality results without special tools or contractor assistance

Where to Use

  • Roofs, Attics, Walls, Ceilings & Foundations – Insulate basements, crawl spaces, and hard-to-reach upper areas
  • Window & Door Frames – Seal gaps to stop drafts and energy loss
  • Pipe, Duct & Conduit Penetrations – Seal around plumbing, ducting, and electrical openings against air, moisture, and pests
  • Cracks, Gaps, Cavities & Seams – Expand to fill irregular, vertical, overhead, or uneven surfaces
  • Vehicles, Trailers, Boats & Specialty EquipmentNon-structural insulation for mobile and secondary structures

Ideal Projects

  • Residential insulation & energy efficiency upgrades
  • Renovation & retrofit of older buildings
  • New construction – framing and pre-drywall stages
  • Mobile homes, garages, and utility buildings

How to Use

  1. Prepare the surface. Make sure surfaces are solid, clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, and rust. When the temperature is above 32°F (0°C), lightly mist the surface with water to improve adhesion and speed curing.
  2. Prepare the can. Bring the can to room temperature (ideal: 68°F / 20°C) before use. Wear protective gloves, shake the can thoroughly for at least 30 seconds, and firmly attach the applicator to the valve.
  3. Apply the foam. Hold the can upside down with the valve pointed downward at all times. Spray from 12–18 in. on vertical walls and 6–8 in. on horizontal ceilings. For vertical gaps, fill from the bottom upward — don't fill the entire gap at once, as the foam will expand.
  4. Build to thickness. Apply in multiple layers — at least 3 layers to a recommended total of 2 in. for optimal insulation value. Thicker applications deliver higher performance; 1–2 layers will not reach the ideal R-value.
  5. Finish. Sets tack-free in about 5 minutes and can be cut in roughly 40 minutes; fully cures within 24 hours. Once cured, protect from UV by covering with plaster, paint, or another suitable coating. Remove uncured foam with Foam Cleaner; cured foam can only be removed mechanically.

FAQs

What is ThermaFoam Wide Spray used for?

ThermaFoam Wide Spray is used to fill, seal, and insulate gaps, cavities, seams, and hard-to-reach areas. It is suitable for attics, crawl spaces, walls, ceilings, basements, foundations, window and door gaps, pipe openings, duct openings, trailers, and other non-structural insulation projects.

Do I need a spray foam gun to use ThermaFoam?

No. ThermaFoam is a ready-to-use aerosol foam and does not require a spray foam gun. Attach the applicator, shake the can well, hold it upside down during use, and apply the foam directly to the prepared surface.

How much area does one can cover?

One 16 oz can yields up to 10 board feet at 1 inch thickness. Actual coverage may vary based on application thickness, surface condition, temperature, humidity, and how the foam is applied.

Is ThermaFoam good for large insulation projects?

ThermaFoam works well for small to mid-size insulation and air-sealing jobs where a gun-free application is preferred. For larger walls, ceilings, attics, crawl spaces, or full-area insulation projects, FastCoat kits may be a better option because they are designed for higher total coverage with a spray foam gun setup.

Is ThermaFoam fire rated?

Yes. ThermaFoam is Class A fire rated according to ASTM E84, with FSI ≤ 15 and SDI ≤ 40. It also provides R-5.66 per inch thickness for thermal insulation performance.

How long does ThermaFoam take to cure?

ThermaFoam becomes tack-free in about 5 minutes and can be cut in roughly 40 minutes. Full curing takes about 24 hours, depending on temperature, humidity, and application conditions. Once cured, outdoor applications should be protected from UV exposure with paint, plaster, or another suitable coating.

Can ThermaFoam be painted after it cures?

Yes. ThermaFoam can be painted after it is fully cured. For outdoor applications, cured foam should be protected from UV exposure with paint, plaster, or another suitable coating. Trim or shape the cured foam first, then apply the coating according to the paint or finish manufacturer’s instructions.
